About Virtual Feis™

Virtual Feis is designed to allow individuals and schools in remote locations to participate in post-adjudicated competitions. Dancers receive official scoring and ranking which may carry over to on-site local and regional competitions.

Who is it for?

• Schools or individual dancers in remote locations who cannot easily travel to local Feiseanna.
• Schools who want to monitor student progress but do not yet want to get involved in regular competitions.
• Newly participating schools or individual dancers who need to establish their relative skill level for competitions or regional qualifiers.
• Schools who need to test the waters or pre-qualify before committing to an expensive school trip.

How Virtual Feis™ Works

1. Group or solo competitors will perform the required dances in accordance with AAIDT policy on VHS-NTSC or DVD Region-1 media. The material is then submitted to the remote Feis committee for adjudication.
2. Dancers must perform the required dances for their category and level. All required dances must be filmed in a single day and provided on a single video tape or DVD. Edits between segments must be concise—no “down time”.
3. The camera angle must be directly in front of the dancer(s) and the camera adjusted to waist height and parallel to the horizon. The dancer(s) must begin each dance at exactly center frame. When dancing two by two, center frame should fall between each dancer.
4. The camera should be adjusted as close as possible while keeping the entire body(ies) in frame at all times so that the frame width captures the entire dance with little excess space. A test frame should just fit a traditional side step executed from the center frame to the right, and then from center frame to the left. This should represent the boundaries of your frame.
5. The competitor must submit the completed recording along with properly completed application, registration form, adjudication fee, ID(s) and affidavit.
6. Upon receipt, the video will be reviewed by a licensed AAIDT adjudicator and scores will be forwarded back to the competitor or school.
7. All media becomes the property of AAIDT upon receipt. Videos will not be returned.

Virtual Feis™ Fees

Fees are based on number of students and categories being adjudicated. Member rates apply. Please fill out the pre-application below to receive rates based on your estimated number of students. Our rates allow schools to withhold a portion of the registration fees they charge. Great for fundraising!
